RE: Hey, I'm back

RE THE APL DAYI , SIMPLE QUESTION ONE MIGHT ASK SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT
RECENTLY TWO PAIRS AND WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO BREED THEM. WHAT SIZE MUST THE
FISH BE SO THEY CAN START BREEDING? AND ARE THEY
MOP SPAWNERS ?
THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICES IN ANTICIPATION.

Edd from Denver here.

Chris, just a comment on your Apl. dayi: I also have found a pair or two
at my local fish store. I have also found them to be one of the most
sensitive killlies I've ever kept. They were just never happy in a small
tank, say 5 or even 10 gallons. They invariably "clamped-up" like yours and
succombed to one sort of parasite or another. On the other hand when I
moved them to a 40 gallon, they started to look happy as the proverbial
clam, swimming around actively and coloring up to a beautiful fish. Even
there, though, they did not last me more than a year. As I said, very
sensitive, at least to my water conditions.

So, you've taken the first and most important step in making them happy by
putting them in that huge tank. If your water is clean I bet they come
around in a few days.
