Re: white worms

I feed Grindal worms (smaller species of white worms) extensively. I have
found them to be eagerly accepted by any killie big enough to eat them,
and I even feed the baby Grindals to killie fry (alternating with
microworms and BBS, when available).

There have been statements in older fishkeeping books about the dangers of
feeding white worms exclusively (similar warnings exist for daphnia, and
probably other foods), especially to breeders, because of the high fat
content. I have not noticed any problem with this and have not heard of
any evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) in recent years. Perhaps we are more
enlightened about the importance of some variety, or maybe we modern
aquarists can't produce enough of a single live food to replicate the
problem ;)

I've often wondered about the nutritional value of the various foods I
feed, but generally I just feed what the fish seem to like, and what's
easiest for me to produce.
