Re: Mycobacteria
Thanks Wright, Tyrone, and Robert:
The stain and scoping was done at Oregon State University.
Stuff was sent to Georgia with no answer yet.
The customer immeadiately destroyed the remainder.
I checked in with Dr Beverly Dixon at California State Hayward.
She did a paper in about '94 covering Myco well I thought.
I feel very confident in her opinion and work for ornamentals.
I am not sure what is going on in Singapore at this time.
Probably trying new drugs that accerlate Mycos drug resistance.
I was not awate of the prevelance of Myco in ornamentals.
Neither was I aware of the delay sometimes to older fishes.
These fish were older Discus; larger, but not over a year probably.
They apparently went through more than one stop getting to hobbyist.
They were allowed lengthy stays for acclimation at each stop.
A number of drugs were used in quich succesion looking for cure.
A potassium was used early that often makes fish worse for me.
They showed no outer signs; posibly slight emaciation just before death.
Drug combinations may have weakened fish.
A sad case I could not help at all.
