That is about the date of the first freezing temperatures in that area, so it 
may be a good last chance. October 15 is my regular date to drain the 
plumbing in my cabin in southern Ontario and it has sometimes been below 
freezing briefly. I am assuming that brief exposure to cold will not damage 
the eggs but freezing will.
