4 inches is the max size according to Baensch (volume 2 or 3, I think), but
I have found that a lot of killies will start to breed when smaller than the
full size--pretty much as soon as you can tell the males from the females.
However, they may not produce fertile eggs right away. Give them time and
good food and they should breed for you.

I don't have any experience with adults (this is the first group I've had of
this species and I'm raising them from eggs), but Dave Price has had them
before, and he has said that they are fairly large and robust and will do
better in a bigger tank. Given that I've never known him to be wrong on a
fish related question, I'm inclined to believe him. But, that's his
experience in his husbandry system, and you may find that yours respond
differently. The bottom line is to find the system that works for you.
Have fun with them. Hope they do well for you.
