Re: Query.......on BNL listings
Hi Barry;
From my experience there seems to be a reluctance to get possibly flooded
with checks for fish you just do not have in significant numbers. With the
"tough" species, you raise a few extra pr, advertise them and get a bunch of
requests and tick a load of people off. Besides, many members have a line
of friends waiting for first pick and nothing remains for the masses via the
F&EL. .
If people have internet access, it is easier to communicate what is still
available. With only BNL access, some just send a check. Sort of a
mentality of "If my check gets there first, I will have a better chance" or
something. Maybe we could develop a policy of "contact by phone or internet
is required prior to placing an order for BNL fish" Maybe this way people
with only a few pr would not worry about being flooded with requests and
would be more likely to post them. Otherwise, only fish that are quite
prolific for a member will show up. I do intend to put up a few species in
October (been hot as the devil here and do not like to coo them in the
mail), but this year has been slim production due to a family illness last
fall / winter crimping my time. Hopefuly by next spring I will have some
nice offerings for the BNL.
One other thought. What if you needed to distribute in the F&EL to get KAP
credit? Might that encourage some people who are heavier into breeder
status?
