The operative word here, though, is conditioned separate. MOST Nothos are
just fine in a pickle jar by themselves for 24 hours. and very productive
due to the close quarters. IF you read Any of Ed Warner's stuff he said
things like Blue Gularis (SJO) should be BRED in a 2.5 gallon container.
This is because of proximity only. Closer the mating pair are to each
other, more they will make woopie. This is not only my method for
breeding nothos and peat spawners it is Charlie Nunziata and many other
successful breeders.
BTW I do raise my nothos in sweater boxes.

1 gallon jar probably too small though. I would use
a 3g sweater box and also, provide plenty of hiding
places. This is the way to go, especially when you
only have 1 pair. Some of the notho loves to dine on
their mate instead of mating(orthonotus,
Ocellatus....)
