Raising Fry
Hi Chris,
Start the gardneri fry on the baby brine shrimp. Use bbs that is
48hours or less in age. The bs eggs usually hatch in 24 - 36 hours, so just
keep new eggs hatching. Microworms are a bit big for new born fry. They can
come on line when the fry are a week or two old. Having some green water
(euglena) cultured is always a good idea. A little bit of the green water
helps feed small or weak fry the first 2 days, along with the live bbs. Watch
the bellies of the babies to see if they are taking food. The bellies will be
orange from the bbs. Start with feeding LESS than you want to until you get
the hang of how much they eat. Feed them twice a day, maybe three times if
you are not an overfeeder like me. Add some little snails and java moss or
fern to help the fry make it. Keep them clean.
