Re: Skinny Notho females
Hello group,
This is exciting.
I reported the wasting cure success last year with some F
cylindraceous and australies.
Since then I have been able to save a group of nigripinnis as well.
My first success was at work,
I have a 20 gallon tank at my office at work with the affected fish
in it. I used a 1/4 teaspoon of 5% twice , the second dose three days
after the first. The fish started eating 4 days after the first
treatment. I changed about 1/2 the water after a week and added
another 1/2 tsp. I only change 1/2 the water every other week. There
are 8 fish in this 20 gallon tank.
Since then I have had an opportunity to dissect some fish affected
with the loss in weight and have found that the gut of the affected
fishes are redened and irritated. A tank with several affected fishes
were separated and a portion treated and some not. The fish were
sacrificed and their gut examined. The un-medicated fish had numerous
protozoa in their gut along with the red irritation.
The information leads me to believe there are two ways to know if the
loss in weight is due to the Heximita protozoa: sacrifice and examine
or treat and see if there is a cure. The drug seems to have a good
over dose tolerance and to over come future tolerance of the protozoa
to the drug it might be best to over dose.
1/2 teaspoon per 20 gallons twice in three days
Back to change some more water.
