Isn't that just the limiting case of smaller and smaller partial changes 
with higher and higher frequency? It then becomes a question of how high 
the flow rate (gallons/day) must be to keep the contaminants below some 
defined threshold.

100% changes are rarely practical in a commercial hatchery. That could 
be a *lot* of flopping fish waiting for the new water. :-)
