My approach to all use of chemicals is to use them with care and only when 
and if needed. I almost never use any dyes with my eggs and when I do have a 
problem with eggs dying or fungusing, the dyes seldom help, in my experience. 
However, once in a while I have seen some benefit. Usually, sufficient air 
surface on the incubation container (wide and shallow) will be all you need. 
In some other cases, the breeders are too young and the eggs will die anyway.
