Snow melts in the Andes and supplies the Amazon all year. In the rainy 
seasons, it is supplemented and the rivers rise accordingly. It is near the 
equator, after all, so winter/summer/whatever. Rainfall is seasonal and 
snowfall as well, but melting snow is year-round.
