Re: Green Water -- was -- Re:daphnia



Rotifers are actually more susceptible to ammonia than most water fleas
(Daphnia or Moina).  Should be easier to just add some fertilizer with
ammonia as a nitrogen source  and kill off the rotifers.  Also found out
that Moina will tolerate a higher NaCl concentration than Daphnia and you
could get a fairly pure culture by just adding some rock salt to the
cultures and adjust to about 2 PPT.    I would be cautious about adjusting
the pH of a greenwater culture raising the pH can cause the microalgae to
clump together and drop (precipitate) out of suspension
