Dangerous in all cases, I have worked with many populations of the
bivittatum species group and crossed through F2. Also Scheel's Rivulins
book is filled with amazing hybrids. Now the females are another thing,
they would be indistinguishable from one another.
I have crossed gardneri with australe, gularis w gardneri to name
a few...... some of the males look different, but alas the females
.............. !!! that's another story.
If you are going to work with hybrids, do it carefully, keep good
records, record the resulting fishes, preserve them in Ethanol and wend all
of your info to the Al Morales for the hybrid register so we will have a
record.
I do not recommend it since it is very time consuming and requires
monitoring, results in few fry, but then again people have to make choices
