Bob, one question on the "large dirty tanks".Are the bottoms really bare or
covered with peat and mulm? I have found that the mulm and detritus
existing as my tank substrate is really where the "infusoria" is.
Microscopic examination shows little in the java moss but gazillions of
paremecia, amoebae, other cilliates, rotifers, tardigrades......all sorts
of good stuff in the detritus. No wonder the few fry in these tanks grows 4
times faster that on BBS.
