RE: Dimmer and Stryene was cheap glass tanks ?
HEre is my method and many people will cringe at the thought of using
these plants.
I use duck weed and salvinia to reduce light (and my light avoiding Ep.
sp. Lake Fwa love it.) Both of these plants work well, as well as frogbit
and watersprite!
Wall to wall java moss also breaks down the amount of light, and makes the
fish feel much more secure, as well as providing hiding places for fry and
aslough of other good things. I would also recomend a dark colored
shelving or paint on the outside of the bottom and back, and possibly
sides. (I prefer black.) This provides security for the fish, keeps the
fish from being distracted by adjacent species, and provides for nice
contrast for fish to be found against. Also dark backgrounds and floor
coloring for fish, causes them to darken their patter and colors become
brighter and more pronounced.
That is my 2 cents worth.
