Re: How to submit entry for Photography Show Class at AKAConvention?

>I, for one, would not want to judge a print against a slide. The possible color range is dramatically different, and the psychological difference between an illuminated image and a reflective one is profound.

I was doing digital imaging for Kodak back in the mid 80s, back when a scanner needed to be on the first floor of the building, was much bigger than a person, and required skilled operators to produce quality output. I saw my first digital camera, a Hasselblad, in the late 80's. The "backpack" weighed about 20 pounds and was mostly disk drives and a small computer monitor. I currently work for Sequel Imaging, a company that does color monitor calibrations.

All I really want to say is that when digital images are first judged as digital images, I certainly hope that care is taken to completely specify the display conditions and that appropriate calibrations are done. "Forcing" the photographer to make a paper print of the digital photograph is, for now, a really good solution that at least ensures fairness of judging.
