Re: Intellectual Property

The subject of copyright and intellectual property is relevant to any
who collate information, print, or electronically publish material. This
includes personal web pages (killi-related or not) and newsletters of all
types.
It applies here in killietalk because most of us read material on other
websites, or receive newsletters from various publications. If those
publications or web sites are using material without permission, or at the
very lest, source and author acknowledgement, they are actually STEALING the
material. This, either directly or indirectly, "harms" the original artist,
photographer, or author, by preventing him from earning appropriate
recompense by "sale" (direct or indirect) of that work.
Yeah, I know this can be argued to a very fine point, but it's a topic
that is very clear in the printed publication world. The electronic side is
far behind in establishing appropriate rules and regulations for its games.
Be respectful of other's work, and use caution and consideration when
thinking about using (reproducing) someone else's material. Such activities
could result in a number of nasty and disagreeable results, including a
lawsuit - which you very well might lose.
