Intellectual Property

         Hi All,

Is it possible that people do not understand the issues of
intellectual property and copyright ? I have seen so many photographs
located all over the web which do not belong to the site holder. I have
visited numerous Yahoo type albums of photographs and have been amazed at
the plethora of photos which belong to other people and yet are displayed
on a site.

Photos which clearly are copyrighted, photos which clearly
contain the author's name , and yet they all appear without any concern for
the rights of the property owners. Is is possible that people believe that
if they copy a photo and leave the copyright logo and authors name on the
photos that they have the right to use the photo in any way they wish??

Has the ease of moving and copying intellectual property
become so easy that people using the web believe that the material on the
web is in the public domain and belongs to anyone who stops buy a site?

Perhaps people think that the owners of intellectual
property should feel proud that their material was chosen to be stolen. I
do not think most people would mind allowing some of their work to appear
in print, but it would certainly be nice to ask if permission is available.

Just because technology has made stealing easy , it has
not made it legal. One has no rights to another person's intellectual
property regardless of the intended use. Why is it so difficult
to understand this simply idea?????

                 Tony
