RE: Muriatic Acid - HCL 34%

Hi Lee,

I mix all of my water in a 20 gal long reserved for that purpose. I am not
much for mixing water in the tank with the fish. Tiny pH changes are of
little consequences when it comes to killies and are usually not worth
doing. Big changes like I make should never be done in a tank with fish.

I know that the I could just add a ml at a time and keep testing to see how
much acid it takes. But being the lazy sort that I am I would rather have a
starting point to work from.

Peace,

~RJ~

It is not as big a deal with hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) as it is with
concentrated sulfuric or nitric acids. Nevertheless, when adjusting the pH
of
an aquarium you should never be using the 34% stuff directly into the tank.
It should be prediluted to about 1% to prevent damage to the aquarist and
the
fish.
