A little bit of water will boil when surrounded by lots of acid. The other 
way around, the water cools the reaction down so it doesn't spray you.

I needed an easy way to remember it, because my memory is my second shortest 
thing. I just recall that I never, ever poured the swimming pool into the 
acid bottle. (^_^)
