Muriatic Acid - HCL 34%

Hi Folks,

I went to my LFS and found that they no longer carried Sodium BiPhosphate.
They carried some liquid that cost something like $5.00 per pint and
required about a cup to adjust 20 gallons of water. So I went to Home Depot
and picked up 2 gal of Muriatic Acid 34% Hydrochloric Acid. The carry it in
the pool section for about $6.00 for 2 gal. I suppose it is for swimming
pool use.

I usually adjust a 20 gal fish tank (actually about 17 gal) at a time from
pH 8.3 to 7.3. I know that I will have to tweak the recipe some but does
anybody have a clue about how much acid I should start with. For example 1
ml or 1 cup?

I know some of you use it already and others are chemists. I would
appreciate your feedback. O know that there is a cool formula that would
resolve my problem but for the life of me I don't remember enough of my high
school chemistry to remember what it was.

Peace,

~RJ~
