Re: white boxes, was Standing Waves
If you don't want to spend the money for a white box you can alwats put a
white sheet under your shoe box. This method also helps if you want to hatch
albino fish -- just use a black sheet under the box instead. While on the
subject - if you want to have an easy method of spotting annual fry for
removal from the peat pile try this:
Cut a piece of foam so it can be wedged across the shoe box. Use it to
separate the box into two chambers but leave a gap at the bottom so the fry
can swim under it. Fill with water then Pour the peat into one chamber then
cover that chamber with black plastic or something to keep the light out.
The fry will swim toward the light leaving the peat behind. If you
remembered to put a white sheet under the lighted chamber: the fry will be
very easy to see and catch.
