My pupfish will lay their eggs at the very top of the mop.  At times it seems 
that they must be partially out of the water trying to get the eggs right in 
the knot.  Also, I have purple, brown and green mops in my tanks and the 
purple will have a few eggs, the brown a few more and the green usually looks 
like caviar.  If anyone is interested in seeing a mop *full* of eggs let me 
know and I'll send you a photo.  Russ
