Mop colors

For a year I have kept my BIT in a ten gallon tank and used a yellow yarn 
mop ( it was the only color my wife would let me have.)  At the thrift 
store I recently got three spools of black yarn for $.50 and moved my 25 
BIT's into a twenty gallon long with two mops at opposite ends.  It didn't 
take long to realize that the yellow mop always had more eggs than the 
black mops.  Over the last month it appears that I get twice as many eggs 
in the yellow as the black.  Has anyone else had a similar experience with 
top spawners?  Do the substrate spawners prefer darker colors? As cheap as 
yarn is, I going to buy a spool and make some new mops so I can disinfect 
the old ones between use and I want to get the best color.
