No and yes.
Until we find that other pond we have to accept the hypothesis "the
fish is extinct". So, we must always err on the side of caution. This
is the reason why I suppot the South African Aids treatment campaign
even though I feel the drugs can do more harm that good and the
disease is far from fully understood and scientificly varifiable. The
current working hypothesis is: HIV cause AIDS. No irrefutable
concrete evidence has been presented to the contrary. The hypothesis
must stand. Same with evolution theory. It just good science (a
maintenance of scepticism even though you accept the theories).

Does robertsoni still exist in the wild along with the dodo and blue
antelope? Who knows till some one finds them. But we still list that
population as extinct will that chance discovery.

My vote: roberstoni is extinct as its original location. Put it in
species maintenance. Anyone feel different? prove me wrong. I hope
you're right.
