Barry,
Sounds like the power supply.... What else is there?

I've never used a MAC, just X86 machines with various versions of windows.  
I've learned to have at least 1 spare of everything including a hard drive 
with my current version of Wind'ers installed.  I've found that formating 
the hard once a year greatly improves the performance.
