I have 3 otocinclus in my tanks which do an excellent job keeping the tanks algae free. 2 of them never touch my fish. One of them however continually chased and tried to feed on my killi's to such a degree that I had to "demote" it to a daphnia tank, much to it's delight I would imagine. No apparent harm to the fish. So, it would seem that most otocinclus will leave your fish alone but not all.
