I've tried a couple of things and these two work for me.  Boiled lettuce
placed in a 1 gallon pickle jar with rainwater.  ! week tops.  (make sure
you remove the lettuce and add water after the culture begins.)

Also adding 3 or 4 frozen bloodworms to rainwater in the same container
listed above.  Best paramecium culture yet.
