conditioning killies and aging water.

i know you guys told me to not worries about aging water for the pH lower 
purpose (well some of you did) but i am going to try it lol. How do i get the 
brownish color out of the water because i practicly lined the bottom with 
peat  but now the water is brownish how do i get it out?

And in conditioning killie's i know it's better to seperate the killies then 
put them back together but what if i just devide the tank in two? Will it 
still work the same even tho they can see each other?
