Re: Server problems
I have just spoken to my secretary at Cornell who took a look at the machine that is the server for aka.org. For some reason it won't start up. I have asked her to have our computer support person take a look at it, but I am afraid that it might be a serious enough problem that we will have a day or two of down time. I will be travelling to NY anyway tomorrow to do a stint of teaching and if we haven't got it up and running by then my first task will be to go in and look at it. The web site files are backed up to a separate machine, so even if the server is hosed I can transfer the server to the backup machine.
I have to ask you for some patience, however. I will ask the convention committee to batch convention registrations such that there is no disadvantage to those registering online. Ironic, the usual concern is that they have an advantage. The committee has gone to some lengths to avoid any advantage or disadvantag.
