Re: Color and Pattern degradation in S.A. Annuals?
Regarding degradation of SA annual fish...
IMNVHO , I feel that part of the problem is that many of these fish are
kept under the wrong conditions. A lot of the species are from temperate
climates yet are kept in "tropical" fishrooms. I try to limit species
such as bellottii and whitei to a maximum temperature of 70f, and find
that males at this temperature or lower show strong colours especially
when NOT kept in large groups. When kept in groups only dominant fish
will colour-up properly. Remedy is simple...give the fish the correct
conditions and there should be no problems.
