Re: Chicago Killifish Association 2002 Annual Show is canceled
Robert,
I want to make sure it's clear that the AKA is not the bad guy here. Jeff Kilker is following guidelines established years before and took what appears to be the only stance he can, to deny AKA sanctioning. It's the Chicago club's decision to proceed or cancel.
Now it may be that the requirements and/or the way that the sanctioning request is processed are outdated and could be revisited. I don't know. I'm not a breeder, just a collector <s>, so sanctioned shows vs. unsanctioned shows makes little difference to me. I go to see killies and to meet with my friends.
I do believe that this result is detrimental to the hobby as there are a number of folks that rely upon their annual visit to the ChiKA show as their only encounter with killies. So there is likely to be less folks keeping killies this year in Chicago. And that's not good for the hobby.
