I will have to disagree from a horticultural perspective and from
experience. The more moist the area the better the bananas grow. Swamp is
the best as the muck is high in organics and there is plenty of moisture and
humidity, both of which bananas love!! Biggest problem for bananas and
plantains alike is dry soil and drought.
WE plant ours lakeside or in ditches and they thrive. Put them in a dry
spot and it's a 50/50 chance the tree/clump will die off.
