trapdoor snails are new to me, can you be more specific?

Did you get them locally, or via mail? I have enough

duckweed to keep several of them going for a long time!

Duck weed is easily eliminated by trapdoor snails -  They can consume
their weight in 
duck weed in a single day.   For a while I was buying duck weed @ $.50 /
tablespoon but I found that they prefer cucumber slices.  
The other benefit is that the snails produce tons of infusoria with their
droppings.
