Re: KillieTalk Digest V3 #1980

bug problems... hi all..
can anybody out there in e-mail land maybe point me in the right
direction to get rid of leaf mites or aphids? little black "spider
like," pests. they hitched a ride into my fishroom two and a half years
ago, and i still have not got rid of them. i'll think i have them
whipped in one tank and they will turn up in the tank next door. i
overwinter a tropical water lily and some other "lily looking" plants in
my tanks indoors. also, i am lucky enough to get val to grow in my
hardwater livebearer tanks. any of those floating leaves and stems is
where those pests will gather . i have
tried that aphid control spray and it maybe killed four of them.
presently, i am netting them and taking the net to the sink and scalding
them and the net. i am keeping the val clipped to just below the
surface, but val is not pretty that way. i am weighting the lily stems
with rocks to keep their leaves submerged, but the lilies keep growing
and the leaves soon are back on the surface, and once again the aphids
are back. how does a
person get rid of these pests? is there maybe a way to bait and trap
them? any help would
be greatly appereciated. think spring
jones
