Daphnia tanks

Hi All,

Again I want to thank all those that sent suggestions for a daphnia tank, they were greatly appreciated. I should have been more specific about the type of tank that I was looking for. The guide lines that are in my Culture Manual suggest that a large surface area is most effective with a depth of no more than 12-15 in. Shallow water depth with large surface area allows good light penetration for photosynthesis by microalgae and provides a large surface volume ratio for oxygen diffusion. 12-15 in water depth is ideal whereas deeper depths are less productive. I also like the idea of an indoor tank that I can control the light and temp. and the nutritional value of the daphnia all year long. For a cheapskate like me $32 is alot of money but if I can have continued success with my culture, it will be worth it. Thanks Again, Duane
