Re: Sex Ratios -- OOPS!

The time for the Temperature to be set to the ratio you want is just prior to
hatching and the first week.

What I would recommend that would be less stress on the fish is to set and
maintain a temp for breeding and spawning and raising the fry and not change
it in between.
Too much risk of over or under shooting and risks with the heaters as well as
stress on the fish.

Remember too that higher temps increase the fishes metabolic rates and they
won't ultimately live as long.

Remember Phylogeny recapitulates Ontogeny.
IE: you can extrapolate across Families of Fish for many Metabolically
controlled Lifecycle specific events.

I am a physician. Have been a keeper of African Cichlids (predominantly,
even studied them in detail in college and wrote a thesis paper on them),
occassionally South American Cichlids for the past 30+ years. Recently have
delved into killies and have successfully spawned (2 pairs), but I guess this
species is probably easy to deal with Amphoseyma (sp?) gardnerrii
(sp?)...still working on my Killie nomenclature!
