Easy if it is just CaCO3 (lime) deposits. You can use any strong acid to
soften it so the stuff can be scrubbed off (maybe after some gentle
scraping). I have used pool acid (HCl, aka "Muriatic") but prefer a product
available at most hardware stores called "CLR" which I believe stands for
calcium, lime and rust remover. It is tough on skin or eyes, too, so wear
proper protection as warned on the label.

Some aquaria get actually etched by strong alkalis, as in salt-water tanks,
or redeposit SiO2 from condensation (cover glass, usually). Those kinds of
frosting will not be helped by acid washing. If it doesn't "fizz" you
probably need to replace it.
