It sounds like you have Aplocheilus lineatus. Mine were purchased as "Golden Wonder" killies. Mine too are surface dwellers and the male (4 inch) is twice the size of the females. Maybe I'll get lucky. I have noticed these fish love to hover under of the edge of a piece of floating driftwood, maybe this will prove to be their prefered egg substrate. I don't know if these fish are jumpers but they are lighting fast (chasing guppy fry) so a screen is probably a good idea. Hope this helps.
