Re: OT. bettas

While I never crossed B. splendens with B.bellica, I did cross B. splendens
with B. smaragdina and B. imbellis. I even crossed the smags and imbellis.
The offspring were fertile. There was a fish around many years ago called the
Phuket betta. Many people were crossing splendens with this fish and then
breeding the offspring back to splendens. The reason this was done was to
strengthen the spleneds finnage when they flared. This little experiment
never worked. We also never left any of the hybrids out to the hobby. Some
people did however.
