RE: OT. bettas
I think part of this that we are missing is that the fish have known
genetics. I am not familiar with what Orange DR CT from Daman's line means
exactly but with that information if you have the right female you can be
assured of getting X% of phenotype A B or C.
One way to think of it is with our strains. Fp gardneri aquarium strain
doesn't even get bid on where as Fp gardneri (insert expensive strain name
here) goes for some $$$. I do not want to see or keep any line bred killies
but I bet if someone set there mind to it you could have some very novel
strains out there (Australe have a few). The difference between most betta
hobbyist and killie hobbyists is that they work with one species and many
strains where as we work with a Family, with the occasional Notho Nut (sorry
Barrie :) who works with a single genus.
