Re: Why Not Start Our Own Club?

Sveiki ,

Baensch Riehl in his book 'Aquarium atlas' (V.1 1997) wrote (~) 'aquarium
is second hobby in America after postmark'. So, in most biger city you
 can find aquariumist.
In Lithuania (with 3.6 million people) are other situation. Until
1991 our country belongs to USSR. Live was slow and simple. People
had time for her hobby. We had seevral aquarium clubs, tehy organized
exhibition, meetings. Except articles in magazines, we have only one amateurish book about
aquariums (in lithuania language). Most of fish , Lithuania reached
from Moscow. Was more profesional aquariums keepers, than now.
After 'revoliution' all change. New live style was not usual for people. All aquariums clubs downfall. People
haven't time for her hobby. Some fish species (example killies) was forgeted and lost.
Only now situation stabilize and we forming club. At first we employment Internet. We started www
page (www.akvariumas.lt) for propagation aquarium hobby and formating
virtual aquarium club. Now we joining 55 people.
Club just started function, we have a lo of job, but some result we
have. Our club have agreement with magazin that they will publish our club
articles. In spring planing organize our first club meeting.
Organizing general 'club card' that our members can get discount in
zoo shops (in present we have discount 7% and 10% in basic
 Lithuania cities zoo shops)

In our plans are formate killiesfish group. As I wrote, in Lithuania about killies
know only few people. They are not very popular.

I want publicly thank for man who send me killies egss Cynolebias
whitei (sorry, after reinstal PC I lost your adress). We succsefuly
rised fish and collected eggs for next generation. Now in Lithuania
we have three species of killies:
Nothoranchius palmquisti (Lonnberg, 1907) (from Moscow)
Fundulopanchax gardneri (Boulenger 1911) (from Moscow)
 Cynolebias whitey
and this species, in summer planing popularize among lithuania aquariums keepers.

How will be, we will see.

Thanks for all who helped us.

p.s. sorry for my poor english
