IT is important to remove the cause of the fin problems, not just the
infection. Some bad water conditions have weakened the fish to make them
susceptible. Make sure that there are no toxic waste products or pH drop that
have caused this problem. Treating the infection will do no good if the fish
are continually weakened by poor water. Changing the water is the secret to
healthy killies. It must v be done regularly and frequently with a good water
source that is neither chlorinated nor grossly different in basic hardness,
pH and dissolved solids from the acceptable range. A wide variance is
tolerable, but all OK if not changed too fast. Start some daily 20% water
changes with dechlorinated tap water. If you have changed the water recently,
make sure by testing that you have removed all the chlorine. Chlorine will
attack the fins before it kills the fish by destroying the gills.
