Subject: Coverting/modifying Eclipse power filter to
"fry-safe" sponge
filter

Hi Everybody,

My folks bought me one of those all-in-one Eclipse
tanks for Christmas
- a
3-gallon acrylic setup with everything built into the
hood. It's a
neat
little tank, but I'm looking for ways to convert the
small power filter
that's built into its hood into something that is safe
for fry...so I
can
use it for breeding.

Would stuffing a semi-porous sponge into the filter
tube do the trick?
How
about putting a small piece of nylon (pantyhose) over
the filter
intake?

I use an eclipse in a spawning tank for some cichlids.
All I did was stick one of their sponges for a
powerhead on the intake, fits perfectly and is large
and gives the fry a place to find food.
