I use boric acid - available at drug stores. For carpenter ants it can
be mixed with water and sprayed on wood, for cockroaches and ants, the
powder can be spread behind chairs and couches and along baseboards.
You want to keep up away from pets and kids according to the label on
the bottle. It is considered slightly toxic. But keep in mind, it is
used a an eyewash as well. One mixture of the stuff is okayed by the
goverment for use around water pumps and well rooms.
