Re: incubators

I use the following method for constructing
incubators, and it works well.
Take a big styrofoam box (the kind they use to ship
fish commercially), and place a big jar of water in
the middle. Place an appropriate size tank heater in
the jar and fill it with water. Punch a hole in the
stryofoam box to run the electrical wire out, and then
seal it. The heater can be set for the desired temp. (
i use 28c for notho. eggs). Monitor the inside temp.
for a while, and adjust the water heater. It usually
needs to be set a little higher to heat the whole box.
Add water occationally to compensate for evaporation.
Make sure you use a big enough jar to distribute the
heat. A jar to small will not sread the core heat
throughout the box. This is a cheap easy incubator,
and it has never failed me or killed eggs. In the
summer I unplug the heater. Good luck.
