Re: rivulus xiphidus

Thanks for all the input on the rivulous xiphidus
species. My fish are still very young. I will breed
them fist in a small tank with mops, two females to
one male, and see how that goes. I am feeding freshly
hatched mosquito larva ( I am very lucky to get tons
of rafts in my backyard), bbs, daphina, microworms,
and vinager eels. That should fatten them up for egg
laying! I will pick the eggs and seperated them; and
pay special attention to the points mentioned about
fry. Thanks again.
As for the possible microbacterial infection...I have
frozen all the affected fish and tossed bleach in
their tanks. They are big tanks, so bleach seemed the
least expensive way to go, and the most convenient.
I've use bleach before with good success. I have also
stepped up my water changes which seems to help a lot
in keeping the number of infections down. I've noticed
a drop in these cases already, after just two weeks of
increased water changes. Also less feeding. I've been
stuffing my fish lately and am beginning to think this
is not a great idea. Now I'm feeding more moderately.
The water stays cleaner longer and the fish still do
fine.
Thanks again.
PS I finally rejoined the AKA by sending in the
application form from the website; but I was
frustrated by not being able to do in online. What's
up with that? I've heard the same complaint here
before. I'm sure membership would increase if the
website would let you join online. Just a thought.
