Thanks for the replies on the disease I mentioned. Mr.
Wright mentioned possibly fish TB. That crossed my
mind, too. The only way to be sure I suppose is to do
a micrscopic inspection. I have a biology background
and can disect fish, but no microscope now. I should
break down and fork out the cash, I know. It's a lot
of fun, too. What I could use is a recommendation for
a good fish disease book with many pictures of squash
mounts. This helps a lot; but the books I now have are
a bit old and not very comprehensive. Any suggestions?
For the person who has the infected fish...it will
probably have to be sacrificed. Better to do it before
the cyst bursts through the skin possibly (or
probably) spreading the disease. Fortunately this does
not prevail in any one population. Just a few fish
here and there. Good luck.
Let me know if the spot on your fish progress as I
mentioned earlier. It will grow, and looked at
closely, appears to be small, white balls growing out
of eachother in mass, eventually spewing out of the body.
