RE: technical: how to make an air diffuser
Good morning Tyrone. Here in the states we have foam plastic diffusers on
the market. Are those unavailable in South Africa?

Subject: technical: how to make an air diffuser
Hi all
I want to know how to make an air diffuser. A friend is
doing some experiments where he needs to aerate a
bacteria colony from the bottom up (very complex setup).
The beaker he is using only allows large bubles which
don't aerate the culture properly--- we want smaller
bubles. We were thinking of putting an air diffuser at
the bottom of the beaker and pumping air through it from
the bottom like now.
Well, we have figured that the diffuser is simply fine
silica sand, but what is the resin used to bond it in
such a porous way?
Does anyone have any ideas? The resin must be totaly
innert! This is for metabolic experiments and samples of
the culture will be loaded on an HPLC for analysis.
Thanks
